2. To improve the quality and efficiency of Health Information Practitioners.
3. To promote and sponsor continuing education activities and to stimulate interest in the role of Health Information Practitioners.
4. To support the Virginia Health Information Management Association and American Health Information Management Association in the attainment of their objectives when there is a consensus of the membership to do so.

Tidewater Health Information Management Association (THIMA) is the local organization for health information professionals in the Hampton Roads area.
